Lin Xiaotang, a 20-year-old girl living alone in a small town, is buried under debt due to her grandmother's severe illness. One late night, while fetching well water to wash herbal medicine, she unexpectedly pulls out a silver-scaled dragon covered in wounds—it spits golden pearls but begs, "Don't hand me over to the Dragon Palace pursuers." Turns out the dragon is the Dragon Palace prince who defied his father to come to the human world, searching for the human girl who saved him 300 years ago. Coincidentally, her grandmother's old wooden chest holds half a jade pendant carved with dragon patterns. When the Dragon Palace pursuers shatter the town's peace and the golden pearls' magic starts to backfire on the dragon, Xiaotang must choose between using the pearls to save her grandmother or sending the dragon back to the palace to save its life—yet she doesn't know she's already the "obsession" keeping the dragon from leaving the human world.
