Modern office worker Lin Chuan triggered the "Breakdown System" after a career setback and girlfriend's cheating, waking up in a state-owned factory dormitory in 1959. Here, there are business opportunities from the "food stamps worth half a house" his grandfather mentioned, the truth behind his mother's work-related death, and his college crush Su Xiaomei—who turns out to be a braided apprentice in his father's workshop! Using the system's "Era Prophet" skill, Lin Chuan makes his first pot of gold by selling scarce glass marbles and Dacron cloth, while secretly arranging an easier job for his mother to avoid injury. He stops Su Xiaomei at the factory gate: "Do you believe I'm from the future, where we ate McDonald's together?" Just as he thinks he can change his mother's fate, the system pops up a red warning: "If she doesn't fall in love with you this month, you'll be trapped here forever." But Su Xiaomei smiles and pulls out a copper key—it's the key to Lin Chuan's modern rental apartment, which she's had since 1959, hidden under her pillow?
