Mainland youth Chen Mo moves to Hong Kong to build a life, renting a spare flat from Zhang Guilan, a trendy tea restaurant owner with a soft Cantonese accent. At first, he takes her for just a warm, ordinary shopkeeper. But one midnight, he catches her sobbing over an overseas long-distance call, and finds old photos and an unsent overseas letter in her drawer.
