On a remote island in southern Zhejiang, lighthouse keeper Lin Wan has tended to her father’s old beacon for three years, marking time by the highest annual tides—the day her first love Chen Yu promised to return. Chen Yu vanished at sea during a fishing trip three years prior, yet Lin refuses to leave the island. Now, a rusted fishing boat docks, and there stands Chen Yu, alongside a little girl who bears an uncanny resemblance to Lin. Clutching the brass key Chen left her years ago, Lin realizes a devastating secret has been hidden in his three years of disappearance.
