Lin Chuan, a down-and-out modern programmer, is reborn in 1997 right after the college entrance exam. To earn tuition, he works as a cybercafe administrator, fixing computers while secretly writing software with his past-life programming knowledge. When the city’s first "Youth Computer Innovation Competition" launches—with prize money exactly covering his tuition—he faces wealthy opponents who look down on "cybercafe staff" and must clear up his crush Su Xiaoyu’s misunderstanding that he’s "wasting time."
