In 1942, Japanese air raids ravaged the rear area. Qin Chenchen, an engineer returning from overseas, was tasked with building a secret military factory deep in the Loess Plateau. His first encounter with Jin Yiying, a field nurse, was a bicker—he found her "overly worried," she called him "death-defying." But during an air raid, Qin shielded her medicine box with his body; when the factory foundation collapsed from rain, Jin led villagers to refill it overnight. They raced against time, outwitted enemy spies, and quietly fell in love. Until the factory’s test run day, a Japanese reconnaissance plane locked on. Qin gave Jin the last air-raid shelter ticket and rushed to the machines. In the smoke, Jin held his design, hearing the distant roar of machines—the "Long Song of Changle" they wrote with duty and love.
