Lin Xiaoman, a cutting-edge landscape designer, is assigned to renovate Sangtian Village, her grandmother's hometown. But she's stopped outside the century-old mulberry forest by Gu Ye, a "mulberry fanatic" who claims the forest is the village's root and someone's "unfinished business". When Xiaoman recognizes Gu Ye as the little Aye who climbed mulberry trees and saved mulberries with her in childhood, when her grandmother's diary reveals the forest was where their mothers fell in love, when Gu Ye holds the "mulberry castle" she drew years ago and sobs, "I've waited for you for twenty years" on the eve of the demolition order, this "battle for mulberry branches" has long become a two-way journey of rediscovering love.
