Top assassin Lu Chuan (played by Yang Pengcheng) is chased to a border town by his former partner after refusing an assassination order. Heiress Ye Qiao (played by Zhang Jinyi) also flees here to escape her sinister fiancé's plot to seize her family's fortune. They accidentally become joint targets because Ye Qiao holds evidence of her fiancé's crimes—her former partner is ordered to silence them, and her fiancé schemes to trap them. Amidst gunfire, Lu Chuan's coldness and Ye Qiao's resilience forge a tacit understanding, evolving from mutual suspicion to joint resistance. Every time they stand side by side on the brink of death, they let go of their disguises: Lu Chuan hides a longing for "normalcy," while Ye Qiao conceals a desire for "true love." When the enemies' siege closes in, they realize that this deadly pursuit is actually a "heartbeat trap" set by fate—what they need to break is not just the life-and-death game, but also the love that has already sprouted.
