Quantum physicist Lin Wan rents a cat-included apartment to break through her experimental bottleneck, only to reunite with Chen Mo, her ex-boyfriend who split with her five years ago over a misunderstanding. The black cat, which always hovers between "alive" and "dying", becomes a metaphor for their relationship——the unsaid "I didn't cheat" back then is like a truth locked in a box, neither collapsed nor clarified. When Lin Wan discovers the cat's state is linked to Chen Mo's five-year-hidden terminal illness report, she must choose between "opening the box (facing the truth)" and "maintaining the superposition (avoiding regret)". Every breath of the cat tugs at their fading bond.
