Su Wan, the legitimate daughter of the Minister of Rites, flings her marriage silk ball in defiance of a forced marriage to a powerful noble, only to hit Gu Zhao—a young eunuch who just took a knife for the crown prince and lies unconscious from severe injuries. When Gu Zhao wakes, he proposes a deal: he’ll help Su Wan escape the marriage, but she must hide his secret—he’s not a real eunuch. What Su Wan doesn’t know is that Gu Zhao is the only survivor of a general’s family massacred years ago, secretly investigating the truth behind their destruction. What Gu Zhao didn’t expect is that he’d fall for Su Wan, a girl who dares to fight against fate, in their “contract marriage.” When the clue of revenge points to the crown prince, and the shadow of imperial power looms over them, will they break their promise and go their separate ways, or join hands to break through the net and face life and death together?
