Chen Dahai, who served five years in prison, returns home with a guilty heart, eager to make up for his wife Xiufen and son Xiaoyu. But he's stunned by Xiaoyu's dark skin—both he and Xiufen have fair complexions, so how did their 7-year-old become a "dark kid"? Neighbors' gossips prick his heart, and Xiufen mumbles it's "sunburn from grandma's house this summer." However, Chen finds a video from three months ago, where Xiaoyu was still a fair, chubby boy. He secretly takes Xiaoyu's hair for a paternity test, only to get a "biological" result! On the brink of collapse, Xiufen breaks down in tears: Last year, Xiaoyu had a rare blood disease, and the only matched donor was a Black volunteer. The post-operation drug reaction darkened his skin, and she hid it because she feared Chen would worry in prison. When the truth comes out, Chen holds his wife and son, realizing that what deserves the most protection is not suspicion, but mutual trust.
