Former voice actress Lin Xiaoman, who lost her hearing, hides in an attic deep in an old alley to shut out the world, only to be frequently "disturbed" by her new neighbor, sound engineer Lu Zhao — he uses an old phonograph to amplify the vibrations of ants crawling at the base of the wall, collects the "buzz" of sunlight on the clothesline in glass jars, and even turns the sway of sycamore leaves into touchable "sound waves". Lin Xiaoman thinks he's deliberately provoking her, until one rainy night, Lu Zhao uses bone conduction headphones to let her "hear" the "drumbeat" of rain hitting the sunflowers on the balcony — it's the first time she "hears" the "sound of sunlight" since the accident. It turns out Lu Zhao has a secret: he was born deaf and regained his hearing through surgery. He knows better than anyone that "sound" is never the patent of ears, but the resonance of the heart. When the "silent world" collides with someone who "brings sound with sunlight", Lin Xiaoman realizes that what she's been hiding from is never sound, but the fear of loving again.
