Ye Chen, a descendant of the Ghost Valley, descends the mountain to fulfill his master's order—he must dig nine "spiritual wells" within a year to save Jiangcheng from an impending drought. To hide his identity, he pretends to be a rough-looking bodyguard and joins the Su Group, becoming the personal guard of the heiress Su Wantang. Su Wantang initially finds him rustic and quiet, until he saves her multiple times with his miraculous medical skills and martial arts—taking a bullet for her at a banquet, reviving her from a coma with acupoints during a rainstorm. She then discovers this "rough bodyguard" harbors a big secret. Meanwhile, the son of Jiangcheng's richest man tries to sabotage his well-digging plan to seize the land. Ye Chen deals with the villain's schemes while guarding the secret of the "spiritual wells", and Su Wantang goes from "disgust" to "chasing him", even helping him navigate wealthy disputes. As they work on the well-digging mission and hide his identity, they grow closer, unfolding a sweet and thrilling story of a "rough bodyguard" and a "proud heiress".
