Urban white-collar worker Lin Xiaoman returns to her remote mountain hometown for her grandmother's funeral, only to find a human-like "spirit snake" in the old house—it always appears when she's in danger, unraveling her grandmother's forbidden past: Twenty years ago, her grandmother saved Chen Mo, a biologist studying rare snakes, and they fell in love. When Xiaoman follows the snake to the truth, she meets Chen Yan, a young man who looks exactly like Chen Mo—he's Chen Mo's nephew, back to fulfill his uncle's wish of protecting the snakes.
