After graduating from college, Lin Xiaoman turned down a lucrative investment banking job arranged by her parents, and turned a vacant rooftop in downtown Shanghai into a vegetable garden. She was mocked by colleagues and her landlord as a "crazy person who wastes her talent". Unexpectedly, her pesticide-free organic vegetables became extremely popular for their excellent taste, topping food delivery platform sales charts and being highly sought after by high-end restaurants. Facing price dumping from capital giants, malicious land grabs and slander from competitors, Lin Xiaoman relied on high-quality products and an innovative shared farm model to hold her ground. She eventually built a national urban agricultural empire from the small garden, counterattacked to become the richest person in the city, and helped countless urban people crushed by fast-paced life find a healing pastoral outlet.
