Lin Xiaoman has had a crush on Gu Sicheng, the boy next to her desk, for ten years—from the fluster of passing him a notebook of wrong questions in high school to the tacit understanding of helping him fend off drinks at work. She hid her feelings like a shadow, until she saw Gu staying up all night revising a plan for his ex-girlfriend. It hit her: her youth was filled with him, but she was never the protagonist in his world. When Xiaoman cuts her long hair, quits her "on-call" assistant job, and starts her own flower shop, Gu shows up with the love letter she wrote and tore up years ago: "I've remembered you don't take sugar in coffee for ten years, and I've been waiting for you for ten years. Dare to replace 'silent guarding' with 'walking towards the future together'?"
