Song Chen, a top investment banker, hits rock bottom after being framed at work and is forced to return to his hometown, which he left ten years ago, to retrieve his late father's old belongings. Unexpectedly, he reunites with Wu Chunyi, his ex-girlfriend who became disheartened by his sudden "disappearance" and stayed in the village as a teacher. The former lovers act like strangers—Wu Chunyi's coldness hides unspoken grievances, while Song Chen discovers that the rural primary school she's guarding is on the verge of being closed. To make amends for the past and rediscover his original intention, Song Chen decides to stay and help with rural education. As they work together to solve problems like school building repairs and student dropout, they gradually unravel the truth: Song Chen's "disappearance" was to shield Wu Chunyi from her family's debts. When the long-buried misunderstanding is resolved, can they find the light that belongs to each other on the long journey home?
