Shi Jiu, a young Taoist nun from Yonghegong Temple, descends the mountain to cut off her last mortal tie. On a rainy night, she stumbles upon Fu Yanci, a disabled CEO being chased. She intends to save him with her magic and leave, but Fu Yanci insists on repaying her with marriage to handle his family’s schemes. Since then, Shi Jiu uses Taoism to help Fu Yanci expose his stepmother’s property-grabbing plot and fend off the white lotus’ provocation. In return, Fu Yanci, even on crutches, stands in front of her when she’s haunted by evil spirits—turns out the mortal tie she wants to cut is him, whom she was bound to in a past life?
