Su Wan, a modern cultural relic restorer, strays into an ancient begonia tree array in a century-old mansion late at night due to a family heirloom begonia jade pendant—and travels back to the Daqi Dynasty. She mistakes Shen Yan, a cold, power-hungry minister, for the "white-clad young man" who saved her in repeated dreams, and approaches him actively. Shen Yan, who's investigating the late emperor's edict hidden in the begonia tree, plays along with her "misidentification" to use her for the secret. However, as they spend time together, Shen Yan is gradually touched by Su Wan's sincerity. Su Wan soon discovers her "dreams" are past-life memories: she was a begonia spirit who died protecting Shen Yan. This time, fate reunites them through a "wrong dream", but Shen Yan's power-seizing plot pushes their love—once sealed with death—back to the edge of a cliff...
