Shen Mo, the most gifted disciple of the reclusive Qingcheng Sect, has secluded himself on the mountain for a decade, tending herbs and refining pills instead of fulfilling his sect's mortal mission. His master, the sect leader, tried every persuasion for three years to no avail, finally kneeling publicly in the sect square to beg his disciple to descend the mountain and save the clan. What starts as a perfunctory errand turns into a chaotic, dangerous adventure when Shen Mo encounters a hunted Tang clan heiress right after leaving the mountain, dragging him into a century-old sect rivalry.
