Su Xiaotang, a cultural relic restorer, receives an anonymous ancient jade hairpin engraved with "Sui Sui" (Every Year) on her birthday every year—until she meets Gu Zhaonian from an auction house, who holds the other half of the hairpin engraved with "Qing Huan" (With You, Joy). Their investigation uncovers an old promise from their grandparents: "Let our descendants stay together every year." It turns out Gu Zhaonian has remembered Su Xiaotang since a restoration exhibition three years ago; he was too afraid to rush things, so he used the hairpin to "approach quietly." When "Sui Sui" and "Qing Huan" are united, the feelings hidden for three years finally come to light—turns out the best "every year" is only complete when it's "joy with you."
