I, an ordinary office worker, accidentally traveled to central Henan during the catastrophic famine of the Republic of China era with my best friend. To my shock and joy, I discovered I could shuttle freely between the modern world and this famine-stricken land. Using modern in-demand supplies like compressed biscuits, antibiotics and affordable fabrics, I secretly peddled goods to earn silver dollars and food coupons. But I soon fell victim to roaming deserters, had to fend off my friend's growing greed and exploitation by local gentry. I must keep my time-travel secret alive, fight for survival in this deathly famine-stricken world, and uncover my friend's hidden true motives for coming here.
