Qin Xiaoyi, a top investment banking consultant, is blacklisted in the industry for taking the blame for her best friend, and her five-year boyfriend breaks up with her right then—her life seems to hit a "dead end". Desperate, she moves into an old apartment in the historic district, where she meets a mysterious landlord and Lin Shen, a quiet designer running an old bookstore downstairs. The old account book left by the landlord uncovers a century-old secret of the district's shops—it hides traces of Qin's mother's entrepreneurship decades ago. To save the district from being demolished by developers, Qin uses her banking expertise to revamp small shops, only to face slander from her former friend and pressure from developers. Meanwhile, Lin Shen's silence conceals a regretful past tied to the district. When new hope sprouts from the ruins of the "end", Qin realizes: what she once saw as "the end" is actually the most passionate "start" of her life.
