Qian Yi, a heartbroken illustrator, moves into an old community with her grandma's corgi "Naitang", only to clash with Han Qingyue—a next-door surgeon with severe insomnia—because of Naitang's occasional late-night barking. Han complains repeatedly in his pajamas, while Qian holds Naitang and apologizes, hiding a secret: the barking is a "warning" for her grandma's asthma attacks. When Han accidentally sees Qian crying in the hallway while holding her grandma late at night, their "war" softens: he starts leaving asthma medicine at her door secretly, and she draws an illustration of "a doctor and a dog" and sticks it on his peephole. A misunderstanding about "dog disturbing neighbors" hides the most touching tenderness—turns out all the confrontations were fate paving the way for their encounter.
