Su Wan, a medical student just back from abroad, is forced into an engagement with Gu Jingshen—the most domineering young marshal in Beicheng—by her father. She despises him as a "crude warlord" and tries everything to escape, but Gu Jingshen has his own way: he snatches her medicine kit to take a bullet for her, outpaces her first love (a scholar) to retrieve her research data, and even "steals" the childhood portrait she hid under her pillow as a treasure. When Su Wan learns this man, who's always clinging to her, is the "little beggar" she saved as a kid—and that he spent a decade collecting military medals just to be worthy of her—those "fights and snatches" finally reveal the deep love beneath, breaking through her walls.
