Yang Lin, a tough career woman in 2023, suddenly travels back to a 1985 state-owned factory dormitory while driving her Benz to a client meeting. Her Benz becomes a “rare curiosity” in the neighborhood—even Aunt Wang from the committee suspects it’s a “capitalist remnant.” To survive, she uses modern marketing tactics to help her father’s soy sauce factory sell unsold stock, only to catch her young mother arguing for a divorce from her father. It turns out her mother wasn’t the “domineering shrew” she remembered, but a “dreamer” barred from college by her in-laws. Chen Jianguo, the handsome next-door guy (a future business tycoon), is both skeptical and drawn to her “wild ideas.” But Yang Lin is fixated on one question: why does the old key in her Benz match the one her father gave her on his deathbed? As she tries to rewrite her parents’ tragedy, she discovers that within the warmth of the 1980s lies the “truth of love” she never truly understood.
