Cheng Qiyue, daughter of the prime minister, approaches the neglected idle prince Yuan Zhiying to help him seize the throne for her family's "merit of supporting the dragon". However, this seemingly dissolute prince hides ambitions to overthrow the court and retorts: "You're so good at scheming, why be someone else's stepping stone?" When the emperor dies and princes fight for the throne, her family forces her to switch to the crown prince, and assassinations from other princes follow. Cheng Qiyue finally awakens: "The 'dragon' in the merit of supporting the dragon doesn't have to be a man, doesn't have to be someone else—it can be me!" From mutual exploitation to equal rivals, a game of "who becomes the dragon" begins. Will she break the rules, or will he outsmart her?
