Su Wanzhao, daughter of a powerful minister whose family was massacred by the tyrant, sets a trap to avenge her family by killing the tyrant. She deliberately drags her arch-nemesis Gu Heng—a prince hostage from an enemy state—into the plot, hoping he would take the blame. However, Gu Heng has long seen through her plan and plays along. Forced to “team up” amid the palace’s layers of danger, they go from scheming against each other to feeling their hearts race when hiding from assassins at night, and finally, one takes a deadly sword strike for the other. This “deadly game” that began with calculation eventually becomes the most passionate devotion between them.
