Lin Xiaoman, owner of a matchmaker’s shop, uses her late grandmother’s “Lucky Sticks” to help neighbors find love, but has never drawn her own “Mr. Rightful Lover.” Until one day, a penniless scholar Gu Zhao bursts in to hide from debt collectors. Xiaoman finds him shabby and annoying, but gradually discovers: he can climb roofs to fix leaky tiles, understand her grandmother’s ancient stick inscriptions, and even pulls out an imperial jade pendant to stop bullies harassing her. Just as she falls for him, Gu Zhao leaves a letter: “I’m a marquis’s son who ran from an arranged marriage—I hid it to protect you.” When Xiaoman thinks it’s over, one morning a familiar voice calls from the shop door: “Xiaoman, I traded the marquis’s betrothal gifts for your favorite peach orchard. This time, I’m here to be your Mr. Perfect Match.”
