In 1983, laid-off worker Lin Yang opened a shabby repair shop in an alley to raise money for his mother's medical bills, only to have it smashed by jealous competitors. Desperate, he found an old compass carved with ancient patterns—one that let him "see" the past and future of any item! Using this ability, he went from fixing second-hand appliances to identifying rare antiques, then seized the opportunities of reform and opening-up: competing with real estate tycoons, outsmarting cultural relic smugglers. But the compass's secret attracts mysterious forces... When a common man's passion collides with the turbulent era, can the smoke from the repair shop ignite a decades-spanning business legend?
