Lin Chuan, the top disciple of the modern Maoshan Sect, accidentally transmigrated into his junior brother—who was turned into a zombie by evil cultivators in the Republic of China era—while staying up late writing his thesis. With zombie blood in his veins, he must hide his identity from pursuers and fulfill his master's dying wish: "The Maoshan Sect's revival depends on you!" To make matters worse, Su Wantang, a republican-era female journalist, clings to him to investigate a "zombie serial murder case"—she suspects he's the killer yet is drawn to his "special constitution." When the evil cultivators return to refine a Corpse Emperor using millions of vengeful spirits, Lin Chuan has to risk his zombie life to team up with Su Wantang to break the situation—after all, who wants to date someone they like as a zombie?
