Su Wan, the prime minister's daughter whose family was executed by Tyrant Rong Zhan, disguises herself as a maid to infiltrate the palace for revenge. But as she gets closer to her “cold-blooded enemy,” she discovers Rong Zhan's cruelty is a facade: he checks her old birthday notes at night, secretly repairs her broken jade hairpin, and even takes an assassin's sword for her. Su Wan doubts—Is this man, who holds her trembling and begs “don't leave,” really her target? Yet Rong Zhan has long known her identity. He falls willingly because ten years ago, under the peach tree in the imperial garden, the little girl who gave him an osmanthus candy already stole his heart.
