At 34, Lin Chuan was divorced by his wife after a business failure and left with nothing. On his way back to his rural hometown, he accidentally found an ancient jade carved with beast patterns—granting him the ability to possess any wild animal! He used a stray dog’s sense of smell to find a missing village child, a mountain eagle’s vision to expose a village tyrant’s illegal logging scheme, and an old buffalo’s strength to help farmers plow their fields. Gradually, he became a “living immortal” in the eyes of the villagers. When his ex-wife showed up with her rich new boyfriend to mock him for “being worthless in the countryside,” Lin Chuan pointed to the thousand-head farm behind the mountain and smiled: “I’m not running away. I’m finding a home for the beasts—and by the way, taking back everything I lost.”
