Eight years ago, Lin Shen took the blame for his wife Su Wan's business fraud and went to prison. On the day he finally finished his sentence, he clutched the silver ring he'd saved for eight years and rushed home—this was the "release surprise" he'd planned since he went in. But just as he reached the unit building, he saw Su Wan leaning in a stranger's arms, her fingers gently hooked around the man's tie, smiling as sweetly as she used to smile at him. Hiding in the stairwell, Lin Shen heard Su Wan say, "The judge said he might get life in prison; I couldn't spend my life waiting for a 'living dead'." Broken-hearted, Lin Shen faked a car accident to "die". But when he secretly returned to the neighborhood under a new identity, he found their wedding photo still on Su Wan's bedside table, and the handwritten notes he'd sent from prison every year—locked in her drawer, unopened. It turned out that behind her "betrayal" was a pain and forbearance he never knew about.
