Lin Chuan, a poor young man, sells herbs to survive, carrying an old gourd left by his grandfather and mocked daily as a 'pathetic nobody' by bullies. Until the day imperial guards surrounded his stall—Empress Chu Yao, bloodied, held her dying sister Chu Shuang, the God of War, and knelt: 'Please use the Holy Doctor's needle in your gourd to save her!' Lin Chuan was stunned: a scorned poor boy, why would the empress beg him? His grandfather's words—'the Holy Doctor's inheritance'—were true! Chu Shuang was poisoned by the 'Heart-Eating Gu,' curable only by the Holy Doctor's 'Gu-Breaking Needle'—which was in Lin Chuan's gourd. But as he took it out, Chu Shuang grabbed his hand: 'Was your grandfather Lin Mo?' This revealed a century-old feud between the Holy Doctor's family and the royal court—will Lin Chuan save his enemy's sister?
