Su Jinxiu, the mother of the unloved Seventh Prince, is mocked as the “Plump Madam” in the harem due to her curvy figure. She has been pretending to be foolish and gluttonous to survive, but when her son is framed by powerful ministers and thrown into prison, she suddenly reveals her true self—she is the “hidden chess piece” entrusted by the late emperor, who once helped him suppress a rebellion. She uses a bowl of “osmanthus candied lotus root” to win over the Empress Dowager and save her son from execution, uses the excuse of “being too fat to squeeze into the imperial study” to eavesdrop on enemies’ plots, and even lets the imperial concubine mock her as “brainless due to big breasts” while secretly collecting evidence of her treason. When the Seventh Prince finally ascends the throne, all the officials are shocked to realize: this “plump madam” who even needs help climbing steps has long woven the world’s situation into an impenetrable net.
