Former imperial military instructor Shen Jinghong grew tired of court intrigues and retired to a small riverside town in southern China, running a tea shop to live a quiet life. When a local salt tycoon colludes with corrupt officials to seize farmlands, kill the neighboring shopkeeper and abduct his orphaned daughter, Shen initially chooses to stay out of trouble. But after witnessing the orphan's desperate cries and the villagers' silent anger, his buried sense of chivalry is awakened. He retrieves his old dragon-pattern spear, storms the tycoon's manor at night to eliminate the wicked, only to face official suppression and a plot from his old court enemies. The hidden dragon finally draws its blade.
