Lin Xiaoman, a full-time housewife married for seven years, has been sensing her husband Gu Chuan is “changing” lately—his late-night coat bears an unfamiliar lipstick stain, his phone password was suddenly changed, and he even used overtime as an excuse for their anniversary. She followed him to an old-town café, only to see Gu Chuan flipping through an old sketchbook with a woman in a business suit. Lin Xiaoman rushed in clutching the divorce agreement, only to find those were her abandoned illustration manuscripts from years ago—Gu Chuan had secretly been talking to designers to restart her dream, even recreating the glass candy wrapper from their first date. When Gu Chuan took out the sketch of them hidden in his suit, Lin Xiaoman finally realized: the so-called “pain of the seventh year” was just a lover’s silent tenderness, clumsily catching the light of her that had been crushed by life.
