The young heir of a prominent Jiangnan clan, Shen Yan, is smitten with Su Qiaomu, the daughter of a local tea merchant. But their romance is crushed by the clan's elders, who snub Su for her merchant family background. Right as Su's father is wrongfully jailed in a corruption scandal, she flees south, leaving a fake farewell letter to push Shen Yan away to protect his future. Shen Yan searches tirelessly for three years, convinced Su is gone forever—until a trip to the western Zhejiang tea hills finds him under a grove of ancient arbor trees, where Su runs a quiet tea shop. Worse still, she has a young child who bears a striking resemblance to him, holding the key to unravelling her father's false charges.
