Su Wan, an archaeology student, hears a sigh "Alas, why can't I meet you" from the Northern Song painting *Zhao Xue Tu* (The Painting of Zhao's Redemption) while restoring it. When she touches the jade pendant on the general in the painting, she travels back to the third year of Xining Reign (1070 AD)—Xie Zhao, the teenager in the painting, is being framed for treason and will be executed.
