Three years after a nuclear apocalypse turned cities into rusted wastelands, Lin Xia has survived alone, scrounging for supplies and clinging to old photos of her first love to hold onto her last shred of humanity. One day, she picks up a faint broadcast playing their college prom love song, and follows the signal to a dying man clutching a bag of scarce antibiotics. Around his neck glints the silver necklace she gave him in high school — it’s Zhou Yu, the boy who abandoned her to save himself three years ago. With blood crusted on his cheek, he whispers, “I’ve searched for you every single day. Let me make it right.” Lin Xia grips her rusted utility knife, torn between raging hatred and the quiet hope she thought she’d buried forever.
