The twin daughters of Grand Chancellor Shen, Shen Mingshu and her elder sister Shen Mingyue, are trapped in a cruel scheme: driven by greed for glory, Mingyue swaps their marriage engagements, forcing Mingshu to marry Prince Zhaoheng, widely dismissed by the court as a good-for-nothing wastrel. Most mock Mingshu for ruining her future, but she leverages her sharp wit to help Zhaoheng stabilize the harem, unite loyal officials and reclaim imperial power. When Zhaoheng ascends the throne, Mingshu becomes the empress, while the scheming Mingyue is exposed and meets a tragic end.
