Liu Azhao was driven out of her uncle's house for being "a bad omen for relatives". When desperate, she found a little boy with a jade lock in a broken temple, who called her "mom" immediately. Unexpectedly, the boy was Chu Heng, the crown prince being hunted—his father was assassinated, his mother murdered, so he had to escape in disguise. To keep him safe, Azhao took him to the capital with her last coins, selling handmade rouge to survive while helping him investigate the mastermind. But as they bonded, the little prince's dependence deepened: he'd secretly give her the imperial pearl to buy rouge, shout "Guards, protect her!" when she was bullied by thugs, and even say seriously, "When I grow up, I'll make you my queen." Just as Azhao thought life was settling down, the assassin's sword aimed at her—this time, will she safeguard him, or gamble on a bond that transcends age?
