Lin Wanwan struggles to keep her seriously ill grandma and young brother alive in a -40°C frozen apocalypse, surviving on frozen black bread earned by scavenging scrap metal. Until one day, she digs a pink, soft baby out of the snow—who clings to her neck and calls her "Mom." Since then, miracles flood their lives: scrap metal turns into warm energy blocks, fresh cabbage sprouts from the snow, and even the consortium-monopolized warm crystals roll to their doorstep. But just as they think they’ve found hope, consortium men arrive with guns, claiming the baby is their missing "Life Core"—the "living lucky charm" that can revive the entire frozen world. Holding the baby curled in her arms, Lin Wanwan stares at the ice-shard storm outside, hiding a rusty fruit knife behind her back: "I don’t care about any core. This is my brother. If anyone tries to take him, they’ll have to step over my dead body."
