Bai Xi, a 900-year-old true dragon, falls from the clouds while playing and is accidentally picked up by Yu Cang, the newly crowned Emperor of Great Xia, and taken to the palace. She plans to pretend to be an ordinary girl and sneak away, but the emperor spoils her relentlessly—holding her on his lap during morning court, saving the sweetest osmanthus cake from the imperial kitchen just for her, and shielding her from all the harem's schemes. But she forgets: a true dragon's emotions are uncontrollable—her tears of grievance trigger earthquakes in the capital, and her tears of sadness bring torrential rains that flood the imperial garden. As she almost destroys Yu Cang's kingdom, Bai Xi panics and flicks her dragon tail, but Yu Cang smiles and strokes her hair: "Even if you cry down the world, I'll stay with you to guard it." Did he know she was a true dragon all along? How many unspoken feelings are hidden behind this "deliberate" pickup?
