Lin Xiaoman, an overworked office worker, falls down the stairs on a rainy night after a breakdown from overtime. She wakes up in a 'perfect new world'—her late parents are alive, her long-time crush confesses his love, and she never has to work again. But strange clues emerge: the breakfast lady repeats 'Welcome to the New World' like a robot, her colleague’s coffee is always cold, and she even finds her own death certificate. It turns out this 'new world' is an 'emotional healing pod' activated by her best friend to help her cope with her parents’ death while she’s in a coma. When the 'perfection' of the virtual world clashes with the 'reality' of her true life, Xiaoman must choose between escaping her pain or facing it. And her best friend? She hides another secret about the 'new world' that will shatter everything…
