Orphan Zhuyan takes the place of a missing wealthy lady to marry the rumored skin-eating demon, in order to raise money to cure her critically ill younger brother. On their wedding night, she nervously lifts her red veil, only to watch her husband peel off his gentle human skin to reveal a ferocious demon form. Just as she resigns herself to death, she hears him murmuring his late wife's name before a bronze mirror. To her shock, her facial features are almost identical to the demon's dead wife, and the mountain fire that killed her parents years ago seems tied to this borrowed human skin.
