Amnesiac scholar Lu Xun seeks refuge in a riverside inn during a bitter winter. Each night, ghostly partridge cries herald deadly omens – by dawn, corpses surface in the frozen river. When the spectral cries echo a third time, Lu witnesses the innkeeper approaching his chamber with a bloodied silver hairpin. Trapped in a curse linking to a massacre three years prior, he must unravel the landlady's double life and reclaim his shattered memories before sunrise, or become the next victim beneath the icy currents.
