Shen Huaijin, the newly crowned top scholar, was poised to meet the emperor when his best friend Lu Mingyuan colluded with powerful officials to steal his identity. His family was wrongfully imprisoned, and he was hunted down, falling off a cliff. In his darkest hour, he was rescued by Su Wantang, the prime minister’s daughter fleeing a forced marriage—this seemingly fragile girl hid a talent for investigating cases. To clear his name, they posed as a betrothed couple and snuck into the capital, navigating the web of corruption led by Lu Mingyuan while gathering evidence. Along the way, Shen Huaijin uncovered that the identity theft was tied to a treasonous conspiracy, and Su Wantang saw in him the hope to revitalize the imperial court. When the truth emerged, Shen Huaijin not only reclaimed his title but also helped the emperor crush the rebel faction. Su Wantang, too, let go of her fear of marriage, and they joined hands—each other’s salvation and the guardians of the realm.
