Su Wan, a small-time planner at an advertising company, crashes into a Maybach while saving a stray cat. In a panic, she grabs the owner's tie and shouts, "I'll take responsibility"—not knowing the owner is Fu Jingshen, the "cold-faced Yama" of the Beijing circle. She expects to go bankrupt paying compensation, but instead, Fu Jingshen waits outside her company every day with hot coffee, helps her deal with difficult clients, and even hands her a warm handbag when she works overtime. Just as Su Wan thinks this is an "accidental sweet romance," she finds an old photo in Fu Jingshen's drawer: three years ago, when she was caring for her sick mother in the hospital, she gave her only hot congee to a stranger squatting in the corridor—and that stranger was Fu Jingshen, who was disguised as an ordinary employee back then. It turns out this "accident" was his long-planned heartbeat, hidden for three years.
